This client wanted a home office in a space which incorporates a stained-glass window casting beautiful light across one corner of the room. The brief was for two work-stations with file storage, a wall unit to incorporate a small hidden tv screen and a dresser deep enough to store large images with drawers to facilitate smaller items.
Being an office, we wanted the furniture to evoke a sense of calm and tranquil diligence, a space that feels welcoming but uncluttered. We chose Oak and used a lot of horizontal lines and created shadow gaps under the worksurfaces. There are places for plants and artifacts to contrast the lines and these techniques, together with the special light in this space create a feeling of transcendence.
